This Hinge LED Sensor Light is a clever, ultra-compact solution specifically designed for cabinets and wardrobes. Unlike the long LED strips we discussed earlier, these are "point lights" that mount directly onto your door hardware.
Here is a guide on how they work and how to get the most out of them:
How It Works: The "Pressure Switch"
These lights use a simple mechanical plunger (a gray button).
Door Closed: The door presses the plunger down, breaking the circuit and keeping the light off.
Door Open: The plunger is released, completing the circuit and turning the 3 LEDs on automatically.
Installation in 3 Easy Steps
You don't need to be a DIY expert to fit these; they are designed to utilize the existing screws on your hinges.
Remove Hinge Screw: Unscrew one of the screws that holds your hinge to the cabinet frame (usually the back screw).
Mount the Base: Place the plastic base plate over the hinge and re-insert the screw through the base hole and back into the hinge.
Clip & Power: Insert the A23 12V battery, then clip the LED main unit onto the base plate.
Battery Performance (A23 12V)
The A23 battery is a high-voltage but low-capacity battery (often used in garage door remotes).
Longevity: The "15 months" estimate is based on typical household use (opening a cupboard a few times a day for a few seconds each).
Continuous Run-time: If the door is left open, a single A23 battery will usually power 3 LEDs for about 3 to 5 hours of total continuous light before it begins to dim.
Pro Tip: If you notice the light staying on when the door is closed, you may need to add a small felt pad or "bumper" to the inside of the door so it reaches the plunger switch properly.
