MAINS 5M RGB Plug and Play - Waterproof - IR Controller 24 Key Remote LED Strip Lighting Kit SMD 5050 30 Leds a Meter

Technical Specification Analysis

There is a key distinction in this kit: it uses 30 LEDs per metreto achieve the 10-metre length while keeping the power consumption manageable for a single UK transformer.

Critical Installation Tips

• Line of Sight: Because the remote is Infrared (IR), the small black sensor on the control box must be visible. If you hide the box behind a wardrobe, the remote won't work. Aim the remote directly at the sensor.

• Surface Tension: 5 metres of waterproof (IP65) strip has some weight to it due to the silicone coating. While the tape is strong, if you are mounting it upside down on a ceiling, I recommend using a few silicone mounting clips every metre for extra security.

• Heat Dissipation: Even though this is 30 LEDs/m, 22W heat is at a minimum. Ensure the strips are unrolled completely before testing them.

Best Applications

• Perimeter Ceiling Lighting: Perfect for creating a "cove" lighting effect around the edges of a medium-to-large room.

• Commercial Bars/Restaurants: Long enough to wrap around the base of a bar or along back-bar shelving.

• Home Cinema: Provides enough length to go behind a large screen and continue along the surrounding furniture.
