5M Cool White Plug and Play - Waterproof LED Strip Lighting Kit SMD 5050 - High Brightness

This 5-Metre Cool White 5050 LED Kit is a high-performance lighting solution designed to provide cozy, inviting illumination with the power of a primary light source.

While the previous 3528 strips were designed for subtle accents, this 50W 5050 kit is significantly brighter, making it ideal for "Cool White" task lighting in kitchens or as "hidden" architectural lighting in living rooms.

Technical Performance Analysis

The 5050 chipis larger and contains three light-emitting diodes, resulting in a much higher output than the smaller 3528 chips.

Key Features & Benefits

1. High-Wattage Performance (50W)

This strip draws nearly double the power of the 3528 versions. This results in a "punchy" light that can easily illuminate countertops from underneath a cabinet. Because of the 50W draw, the included UK transformer is robust and specifically matched to handle the higher current.

2. IP65 Waterproofing

The "6" means it is dust-tight, and the "5" means it is protected against low-pressure water jets. This makes it the perfect choice for:

• Kitchens: Safe from steam and splashes from the sink or stovetop.

• Bathrooms: Safe for use as "under-vanity" lighting or "behind-mirror" glows (Zone 2/3).

• Shelving: Easy to wipe clean if dust accumulates on the silicone coating.

3. Warm White Aesthetics

Unlike "Warm White" which has a yellowish in colour, "Cool White" mimics task lighting bulbs which can appear blueish in colour. It is specifically designed to make spaces feel comfortable and is the most popular choice for domestic living areas.

Installation Tips for High-Power Strips

• Heat Dissipation: Because this is a 50W strip, it can become quite warm during long periods of use. For the longest lifespan, mounting it inside an Alluminum Profile (Channel) is highly recommended. The metal acts as a "heat sink," pulling heat away from the LEDs.

• Voltage Drop Check: If you plan to connect two of these kits together to make a 10-meter run, you must power them from the centre or provide power to both ends. Connecting 10 meters in a single line will result in the far end being noticeably dimmer.

• Cutting: Ensure you only cut on the designated copper pads. Since this is an IP65 strip, you will need to peel back or cut through a small layer of silicone to make your connection.
